ZAVA independence tourney postponed
Lusaka, October 30th, ZANIS—The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) has postponed this weekend’s Independence Cup Volleyball tournament.
ZAVA Secretary General Charles Hambote said the move to postpone the tournament is in order to mourn President Michael Sata who died in London on Tuesday this week.
Hambote has told ZANIS sports in Lusaka today that his association will advise on the next dates for the event as well as the other forthcoming activities.
“I wish to advise that in light of the demise of our Republican President Michael Sata, we have resolved to postpone the Independence Cup Tournament. We shall advise about the next dates for the event as well as the other forthcoming events”, he said.
The Lafarge PLC sponsored independence cup tournament was supposed to take place from 31st October to 2nd November, 2014.
And the Zambia Volleyball Association has sent a message of condolences to the First family and the nation at large on the passing away of President Michael Sata.
President Michael Sata died at King Edward the Seventh hospital in London on Tuesday 28th October 2014 at night.
