Mkushi DEBS counsels teachers on witchcraft allegations

-The District Education Board Secretariat in Mkushi has advised teachers to persevere over fears that are linked to alleged witchcraft at several schools in the district.

Mkushi District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Nicholas Mwamba, counselled the teachers at a recent public forum during the week.

Mr Mwamba revealed that his office had received complaints from several teachers in   various schools in the district involving alleged witchcraft incidences.

He said there was need for teachers to stand firm against these fears and focus on enhancing their input towards administering quality education services.

The DEBS said there was need for teachers to acknowledge that the teaching service is a major factor in propelling development in the district.

Mr Mwamba stressed that in view of this, there was need for teachers to be steadfast in their discharge of duties and not to let fear get the better of them.

He also warned teachers against involving themselves in illegal activities that are linked to exam malpractices such as exam paper leakages.

He said the issue owed more to upholding good ethics, adding that it is cardinal for teachers to maintain good morals during their discharge of duties.

According to reports made available to DEBS’s office, areas such as Milombwe, Upper Lunsemfwa and Nshinso were amongst the schools whose teachers complained against alleged witchcraft incidences during the 3^rdQuarter of this year.
