A 72-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in Mbala for allegedly having sex with a cow.
The police say they arrested Wegry Simpasye of Chimula Village in Chief Nsokolo’s area on Friday. This was after his younger brother reported the matter to the police.
Northern Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga said yesterday that Simpasye was caught in the act by his 28-year-old brother, Gerald Simpasye, who is the owner of the animal.
Simpasye was arrested and taken to the police station along with the cow.
“The cow was examined and results will be out tomorrow. It was found with swollen genitals,” she said.
Ms Katanga said Gerald went back home with the animal and police have detained Simpasye.
Meanwhile, a suspected arsonist of Kasama allegedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping off a moving vehicle as he was being taken to the police station.
Ms Katanga said John Bwembya, 25, is alleged to have set fire to a hut causing damage worth K1,000 after a dispute with his wife over her pregnancy.
Bwembya sustained deep cuts on his head and he has lost consciousness.
Bwembya is being treated in Kasama General Hospital.
