The Transparency International Zambia has advised the Police Public Complaints Authority (PPCA) to publicly avail all its recommendations on the complaint made against the Police in order to mount pressure on the office of the Inspector General of Police to act upon such complaints.
This follows recent revelations that the office of the IG has been reluctant to act upon recommendations made by the PPCA on complaints made by the public against the police.
TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu has told Qfm in an interview that his organization is ready to help the PPCA pressure the office of the IG to be responsive when the authority recommends some actions expected to be taken on complaints made against the police.
Mr. Lungu has noted that institutions such as the PPCA are not in existence in the country for the purpose of being paper chasers adding that it should be the responsibility of the PPCA to be tactful in ensuring that their recommendations are acted upon appropriately.
