Nakonde District Commissioner James Singoyi says a 20 kilometer township road project is earmarked to start soon.
Mr Singoyi told ZANIS today that works on the 20 kilometers Nakonde township road is to start before the end of next month.
The District Commissioner disclosed that the tender to upgrade the township roads to bituminous standard has been awarded to China Geo construction company.
Mr Singoyi said the township roads are a good gift especially that Zambia is celebrating 50 years of independence this year.
He explained that since Nakonde border town gained the status of a district 20 years ago it had only one tarred road the great North.
And Nakonde area member of parliament Able Sichula has praised the PF government for concentrating on capital project such as upgrading of township roads and inter district roads.
He said the Nakonde Phase one township roads project will cost 13 million United States dollars.
Meanwhile, Nakonde residents are happy that the border town was going to have tarred roads.
