Three people have been apprehended by the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) for hunting and unlawful entry into North Luangwa National Park.
The incident has been confirmed to ZANIS by Muchinga Province Police Deputy Commissioner, Bonny Kapeso, May 16th.
Mr Kapeso identified the three as Bwembya Situmba, aged 55, Felix Kapata, aged 58, and 66-year-old Binwell Chibale, all of chief Chikwanda‘s area of Mpika District.
The trio was apprehended by Peter Indala, a game ranger under ZAWA in Mpika.
Situmba was shot in the stomach and is currently in Mpika District Community Hospital while Kapata and Chibale are in police custody.
Mr Kapeso said the trio was also found with a 306 rifle and a home-made gun and will appear in court soon.
