Three Zambian business men and one Dutch National have appeared before Mongu Magistrate Court in Western Province of Mongu District for defence on one count of obtaining money by false pretence.
This is the case involving two Zambians Kakoma Kambututu aged 38, Mubita Litungi 31 and Yvovan Doesburge aged 40 a Dutch national appeared in court for money fraudulence contrary to section 309 chapters 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Facts are that on the 20th of October 2013 whilst in Mongu District and while acting together Kambututu and Litungi went to Namakando Mukelebai aged 64 a business man of Imwiko compound in Mongu and obtained k20, 000 pretending that they will pay him 100,000 US dollars should they sale it to a Dutch national who was accused of being in the same deal.
The plaintiff told the Court that the two accused Zambians on the date in question pretended to approach him separately and told him that there was a Dutch national Dooesburge who were exchanging US dollars with Northern Rhodesia 1947 3 pence embedded King George currency.
But when the case came up before Magistrate Humphrey Chitalu for defence the accused two Zambians have pleaded not guilty while Doesburge a Dutch national have pleaded guilty to the charge.
The case came up for continued trial on the 14th of January 2014 and the trio pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against them.
Meanwhile Magistrate Chitalu has since set Friday 9th May 2014 for Judgement and the suspect have remained in Police custody.
