Govt’s junior secondary schools’ initiative hailed
Milenge , February 20, 2014, ZANIS —- An Educationist in Milenge District says government‘s initiative to come up with Junior secondary schools will greatly benefit the poor in the area.
Milenge District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Lufeyo Chitondo says the initiative by government was welcome as it would provide the under privileged an opportunity to have the school going children secondary education especially those who cannot afford to take their children to boarding institutions.
Mr. Chitondo said the idea was welcome as it will help reduce absenteeism that has contributed to the low passing rate in the area.
ZANIS reports that the DEBS said this during a sensitization meeting with various stakeholders in Milenge District, yesterday.
He pointed out that communities needed to be sensitized on the importance of education so as to enable them appreciate efforts done to improve their lives.
He also advised the villagers to refrain from practices of marrying off their children early.
He said education was the only important key that can equalise people’s lives in communities hence the need for them to take advantage of the introduction of Junior secondary’s in the area.
He implored teachers in the area to be good role models in communities they serve so as to encourage villagers to develop interest in education.
