RB justifies trip to South Africa

-Former President Rupiah Band has justified his trip to South Africa.

Mr Banda said his recent trip to South Africa was long planned for and not that he was seeking asylum in that country.

The Former Head of State said he is disturbed by reports being perpetrated by the government alleging that his travel to South Africa was aimed at seeking asylum in that country.

Mr Band said it was regrettable for the government to peddle falsehoods against its own citizen.

This is contained in a press statement issued by the office of the fourth republican president.

Mr Banda stated that upon the completion of his mission in South Africa he will return to Zambia.
