The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has urged members of ruling Patriotic Front (PF) to follow their laid down procedures when it comes to matters of taking disciplinary actions to erring members.
SACCORD’s call comes in the wake of vice president Guy Scott’s threat to former Defense Minister and PF Mansa Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba that if he does not resign, the ruling party will have a painful and undignified process of removing him from.
Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says an individual of any political party in country should be allowed to decide whether to remain in the party or not as this is what is expected of a maturing Democracy such as that of Zambia.
He says it is also important for leaders amongst the country’s political parties to respect one another and that if it is observed that there is a member of particularly party who seemingly needs to resign, it is also important that advise or a suggestion is given to that individual who ultimately should be the one to decide whether to part company or not.
Mr.Cheembe spoke in an interview with Qfm.
