TWO men of Bulgarian origin yesterday appeared before Kabwe Principal Resident Magistrate John Mbuzi for plea over charges of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) forgery.

However, State prosecutor Lennox Kasungu informed the court that the two could not take plea as one of them did not understand English, and the interpreter was out of town on national duty.

The State applied that the matter be adjourned to Thursday next week when the interpreter would be present in court.

The two are facing an offence of being in possession of implements or devices for forgery contrary to section 351(c) of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the office are that Ivanov Petvov, 41, and Velidolski Metodueu, aged 38, on December 17 this year in Kabwe jointly, and acting together knowingly and without authority had in their possession devices suspected to be implements for forgery.

The two were in possession of three high-tech pinhole camera bars, three magnetic card readers,19 non-branded bank magnetic strip cards, one Laptop, Serial SNID-31713272234, six data download cables, one heavy duty snap blade cutter and six roles of double sided mounting tape.

Mr Mbuzi adjourned the matter to December 26 for plea to allow time for the interpreter to be in court.

The two were remanded in custody.
