One person has died while five others survived with injuries after the vehicle they were in was involved in a fatal road accident.
Zambia Police Service Acting Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga disclosed that the incidence occurred on Monday, January 28th, 2013 at around 18:00 hours between Silumbu and Kahale area in Shang’ombo in Western province.
Mr. Hamoonga said the accident happened when the driver of the vehicle, a Toyota Regius, registration number ALG 928, lost control as he was driving along Sesheke road.
He identified the deceased as Mwantala Liywali of Sioma Basic School who sustained deep cuts on the head and left shoulder in the accident.
Mr. Hamoonga said Liywali died as he was being taken to the hospital.
He identified the driver of the vehicle as Milimo Hankombo 32, of Sesheke High School.
He said Hankombo sustained head injuries and is still admitted to Sesheke district hospital.
Mr. Hamoonga identified other accident victims as Cephas Kasonda, 33 of Siloma police and Mubiana Mukelabai 19, of Kalansolo in Shangombo district.
He said Kasonda sustained cuts on the left arm and a dislocated shoulder the while Mukelabai sustained chest pains.
Mr. Hamoonga said three others victims were a 15 year old of Kaanja Basic School in Mutunga village who sustained swollen lips and a backache and two babies who both sustained general body pains.
