Lusaka Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe has advised the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) management to develop a spirit of working together as a team.
Mr. Sikazwe said working as a team was critical to the improvement of operations at the country’s biggest hospital.
He said each member of the management team should play an active role in trying to improve the hospital’s operations and enhance service delivery to the people.
He was speaking after conducting a familiarization tour of the institution in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr. Sikazwe pointed out that UTH was one of the most important institutions in the country hence working as a team would help smoothen its operations.
He said government was keen to see management at the institution solve some of the many challenges UTH was facing.
He has since pledged government’s support to the institution in solving some of its problems.
Mr. Sikazwe has further implored UTH management to always report to government whenever the hospital was faced with some challenges.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Health Christopher Mulenga said Mr. Sikazwe’s tour of the institution was vital because it will enable him appreciate challenges the biggest hospital in the country was going through.
And UTH Managing Director (MD) Lackson Kasonka pointed out that the hospital would always work with government so as to improve service delivery to the public.
Dr. Kasonka has meanwhile, urged government to help the institution identify other partners it can work with to improve service delivery at the hospital.
