New salaries for public service workers will be effected in September

SECRETARY to the Treasury Fredson Yamba says the new salaries for public service workers will be effected in September.
Mr Yamba says reports attributed to the Ministry of Finance that the implementation of new salaries for public service workers has been moved forward are false.
“The reports are just another scheme aimed at stressing workers and affecting their productivity and capacity to deliver the promises of the Government to the people of Zambia.
“During the media briefing on treasury and fiscal matters last Sunday, Minister of Finance Alexander Chikwanda was very categorical in his affirmation that the new salaries would be implemented next month (September),” Mr Yamba said.
He said at that occasion, the minister commended public service unions for the goodwill which resulted in an agreement that the salary increments be implemented in September, instead of the end of the first quarter in March.
Mr Yamba said Mr Chikwanda also thanked the unions for their spirit of dialogue, understanding and focused leadership.
