SOUTHERN African Development Community (SADC) outgoing executive secretary Tomaz Salomao says a SADC report on the just-ended elections in Zimbabwe is ready to be tabled before the regional body.
Dr Salomao said yesterday that the contents of the report will be made public after reporting to the SADC heads of State and Government Summit scheduled for August 17. Robert Mugabe was re-elected President, beating his long-time rival Morgan Tsvangirai.
Dr Salomao said SADC is looking forward to a time when Zimbabwe will no longer be on the SADC political agenda and that the focus must now be on how the country will contribute to the regional developmental agenda.
And Dr Salomao said SADC will soon invite Tanzania and Malawi for talks over a dispute over Lake Malawi.
Meanwhile, Dr Salomao said Madagascar remains suspended from SADC until the Indian Ocean island nation holds democratic elections.
