Kamboyi calls for support on subsidy removal
Solwezi, Jun 19/13/ZANIS———–North-western Province Patriotic Front (PF) Provincial Treasurer, Richard Kamboyi, has appealed to people in the province to back government’s decision of removing fuel and maize subsides as it will benefit ordinary citizens.
Mr Kamboyi said the decision by government to remove fuel and maize subsidies is a bold one and urged people in the province to support the move and start planning on which areas of economic importance the money saved can be channelled to.
He said this in an interview with ZANIS in Solwezi today.
Mr Kamboyi said people must be patient enough if they have to see the benefits from this decision, hence the need for all people’s total support.
He cited the link-Zambia 8,000 and pave Zambia 2,000 as among many other major infrastructural development projects government is undertaking that require huge sums of money.
Mr Kamboyi said government is very much committed to taking development to all parts of the country and that money saved from the removal of fuel and maize subsidies will be channelled towards achieving this desire.
Meanwhile, Mr Kamboyi has dismissed allegations by some aggrieved candidates aspiring to stand on the PF ticket on the Solwezi East Constituency seat that the adoption process was conducted dubiously.
Mr Kamboyi maintained that the adoption process was done transparently and according to what people at the grassroots want.
He said accusing the PF provincial leadership of using dubious means in the process was not in good faith.
