Poor ZNBC signal worries residents

Chipata, June 7, 2013, ZANIS… Some residents of Chipata have appealed to the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation –ZNBC to improve radio and television signal in the area.

The residents told ZANIS in random interviews that they are experiencing interrupted transmission

on radio and television which is affecting the delivery of information especially about ongoing developments in the country.

Madaliso Banda, 74, said the problem  has been going-on  for the

past two weeks now and is compromising the ability of residents to access information especially at this crucial time when  government is explaining the removal of subsides on fuel

and maize.

Mr Banda has however appealed to ZNBC to improve the signal which is bad mostly in the evening before the main news at 19 hours describing the situation as frustrating.

And another resident Masiya Phiri stated that there is need for the

national broadcaster to improve the service especially in rural areas

as it is the most reliable mode of communication.

Ms Phiri said freezing of pictures on TV and bad radio reception has

been a problem for over a week forcing most residents to switch off their

sets.

And when contacted for a comment, ZNBC regional Engineer Raban Phiri

told ZANIS that he is aware of the problem.

Mr Phiri noted that the corporation is working on the problem of poor signal for both radio and television in the area.
