The ruling PF and opposition UPND have agreed to de-militarize their security wings in a bid to promote peace and unity among party cadres.
The two political parties have further agreed to allow the councils to run the markets and bus stations without any political interference.
This was agreed after a meeting between the two political parties held at the PF Secretariat that lasted over two hours 30 minutes.
Reading the resolutions of the meeting to the media, PF Deputy Media Director, Antonio Mwanza said the two parties have also agreed to form a steering committee that will look at ending political violence and promote peace and unity between them.
Mr. Mwanza says it has further been agreed that all those arrested on trumped up charges should be released as the two parties continue to foster peace and unity in the country.
He says the two political parties have also agreed to identify individuals removed from the markets based on their political affiliations with the view of having them return to the trading places.
Earlier before going into the closed-door meeting, PF National youth Chairman, Steven Kampyongo said the party is committed to implementing the peace pact signed last Friday.
Mr. Kampyongo, who is also Home Affairs Minister, discouraged politics of using young people to perpetrate violence, saying the steps being taken are a sure way of ending the negative vice.
And UPND deputy national youth Chairperson, Munji Habeenzu said the party and the youths in particular have made it clear that politics of political violence should not be practised in this era.
