PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Ndola Central Constituency chairperson Andrew Nkhoma has been sent on leave to pave the way for investigations into allegations of corrupt practices.
PF Copperbelt chairperson Stephen Kainga said the ruling party saw it prudent to have Mr Nkhoma sent on leave so that he could attend to the corruption alleagtions.
On Monday, Ndola District chairperson George Chisulo accused Mr Nkhoma of allegedly soliciting for K10,000 bribes from some Ndola Central aspiring candidates to be among the top three.
Due to the allegations brought forward, the district had decided to conduct fresh interviews for aspiring candidates, but Mr Kainga stated that after meeting with the district officials, the party had rescinded the decision.
“He has been removed from being part of the interview process as we are still investigating and not until we finish investigations will I give a comprehensive report,” he said.
Mr Kainga said the results of the interviews that were conducted still stand.
“The party will not conduct fresh interviews as had been agreed with the district. We had discussed with Mr Chisulo, so interviews have already been done and the remaining part is shortlisting, which will be done collectively,” he said.
Mr Kainga said the party had given Mr Nkhoma time to exculpate himself, after which the next step of action would be considered.
