IT is madness for Lewis Mosho to demand K5 million in damages, Roan member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has charged.
But Mr. Mosho says he cannot comment on bankruptcy proceedings that his clients Robert Chabinga and Henry Mulenga intend to commence against Mr. Kambwili and his Mazabuka Central counterpart Gary Nkombo.
Mr. Kambwili was reacting to a reminder in which Mr. Mosho’s law firm Lewis Nathan Advocates has warned the two MPs that they risk losing their seats through bankruptcy proceedings if they fail to pay the K5, 000,000 in costs the High Court awarded against them.
On May 24, 2018, Lusaka High Court Judge Annesie Bobo -Banda awarded the costs against the duo after dismissing their application to join the case in which Mr. Chabinga and Mr. Mulenga applied for judicial review of the alleged decision by Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini to table the impeachment motion against President Lungu in Parliament.
Later, Lewis Nathan Advocates and two other law firms representing Mr. Chabinga and Mr. Mulenga pegged and demanded their costs at a collective token of K5, 000,000.
But speaking to journalists yesterday shortly after adjournment of the case in which Mr. Kambwili is charged with his son Mwamba and two Zambia Revenue Authority officers for alleged corrupt activities, the Roan MP described the demand as a joke of the year.
“Go and tell Mosho that that is the greatest joke of the year…You go into court and you make one application to be joined to a case, it is dismissed and you ask for K5 million, I should have been a lawyer.
