Government has been accused of having mishandled the political asylum application of Zimbabwean politician Tendai Biti who fled to Zambia from his home Country.
Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) consultant Chishimba Kambwili says Mr. Biti is a senior member of the Zimbabwean opposition party who should have been granted the respect he deserves.
Mr. Kambwili thinks that Zambian authorities have abrogated international law by handing back Mr. Biti to Zimbabwean authorities.
He states that the Zambian government should have instead allowed Mr. Biti to exit Zambia for a country of his choice as opposed to arresting him.
Mr. Kambwili states that given what has happened his calling on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister to resign for mishandling Mr. Biti’s asylum application.
