Patriotic Front PF Lusaka Mayoral aspiring candidate Miles Sampa says he plans to buy buses for each constituency that will be used as time bound public modes of transportation, as part of decongesting Lusaka.
He says money to buy the buses will be found and this will be done within the first 100 days of him in office.
And Mr. Sampa says the council under his leadership should he be elected Mayor, will also introduce inter-constituency time bound train services to compliment the Lusaka decongestion program as a long term measure.
Speaking at a PF media interactive forum this morning, Mr. Sampa says once the council buses are bought, it will encourage residents of Lusaka to use public transport and only use their personal vehicles for purposes of leisure especially during the weekend.
And Mr. Sampa says within the first 100 days of him in office as mayor, he will resolve the concerns affecting cemeteries and other burial sites which are mostly not clearly numbered and some people have overtime lost grave sites for their relatives.
He says it is inevitable that people will die while, Lusaka continues running short of burial sites, but would carefully consider alternatives to the challenge, among the options would be to source land in neighboring districts such as Chongwe.
And Mr. Sampa says he will ensure priority is given to Zambians to conduct business activities in Lusaka while tasking foreign nationals to show cause as to why they should be given licenses to trade, following concerns of foreigners taking over business run by indigenous Zambians.
