Two people died in a Road Traffic Accident which occurred on 22nd March, 2018 at about 1930 hours at Dallas hill on Great North Road in Mazabuka.
The accident involved a Scania bus BAB 526 and trailer AJD 4060T being driven by Robert Njobvu aged 39 of Chilanga area, who was driving from South to North and also a Sino truck tipper registration number ADD 624 which was being driven by Kamwandi Kalabi aged 27 of Makululu compound in Kabwe who was driving from South to North .
The accident happened when the Shania bus had stopped due to some luggage which fell off the trailer and in the process the driver of the tipper misjudged clearance distance or speed and in trying to avoid hitting into a stationary bus swerved and hit some passengers who were standing off the road.
The driver of the Scania bus who was also among the people standing outside was hit and he died on spot while another person identified as Carol Matongo aged 37 of Matongo farms in Chongwe District who was a passenger on a Toyota ipsum whose driver had stopped to help pick the falling luggage was also hit , sustained head injuries and died at Mazabuka Hospital.
Bodies are in the same Hospital mortuary.
