Minister of Higher Education, Nkandu Luo has announced that the University of Zambia -UNZA- and the Copperbelt University -CBU- will re-open in the shortest possible time.
Professor Luo has since directed Management at the two institutions of learning to convene so that they adjust the academic calendar accordingly.
She says this will have to be done within 14 days to allow for students to start learning.
Professor Luo further says rehabilitation works currently underway in the institutions will continue and routine inspections to ensure the universities attain acceptable standards of hygiene.
She has explained that sanitation and water reticulation works at UNZA are at 80 percent while works at CBU are 95 percent.
And Minister of General Education, David Mabumba says the 12 Government schools and 49 private and community schools that had remained closed due to the cholera outbreak will re-open on March 5th, 2018.
Mr. Mabumba says the Ministry will continue providing the necessary support to uphold the required health standards.
He also said the Ministry will work with the schools to ensure that they compensate for the time lost by adjusting the school calendars.
This was during a joint press briefing held in Lusaka.
