GOVERNMENT has strengthened the law against street vending and public nuisances and has added 33 new offences, bringing the total to 55 in the amended Act Number 10 of 2018.
Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga told journalists in Lusaka yesterday that considering the fact that cholera’s main driver is lack of hygiene, Government has increased the penalty fees for the offences, apart from introducing the 33 new felonies.
Mr Malupenga said Minister of Local Government Vincent Mwale signed the statutory instrument early this month, and was gazetted last Friday making it binding as law.
