The United Party for National Development (UPND) has accused government of illegally selling land with sources of water.
Speaking in an interview with Chikuni Radio News on Feb 6, 2018, UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma alleges that the government has sold land in Bauleni-Lusaka where Chongwe River starts from to Chinese company to build a shopping mall.
Mr. Kakoma charges that this move by the government is illegal and will cause the Chongwe River to dry up.
He says it is sad that PF led government has continued selling areas such as National Parks and Rivers to foreigner investors.
Mr. Kakoma has since called on the Church, Civil Societies, Environmental groups and the Members of Parliament from both the ruling and opposition parties to put aside their political differences and join forces in reversing the illegal sale of the country’s natural water resources.
