Water levels at Lake Kariba have continued receding with a drop from 480.49 meters to 480.47 as of last week.
According to the Zambezi Water Authority the current level is 18 centimetres higher than what was recorded last year on the same date.
However, the current level is within the designed operational threshold of 475.5 metres and 488.5 metres.
Zambia experienced severe power load shedding between 2015 and 2016 which government attributed to low water levels at Lake Kariba.

LAKE LEVELS
The Kariba Lake was created and designed to operate between levels 475.50m and 488.50m with 0.70m freeboard at all times.
The Lake level dropped by 0.02m during the week under review and closed the week at 480.47m on 29th January 2018. Last year on the same date, the Lake level was 478.65m
