Pope Francis has appointed Catholic Diocese of Ndola Bishop Dr. Alick Banda as new Archbishop of Lusaka.
Archbishop Telesphore George Mpundu, who was heading Lusaka Archdiocese, will however remain in charge of the Archdiocese as Apostolic Administrator until the new Archbishop is installed.
This is according to a statement issued by the Apostolic Nunciature in Zambia availed to Radio Icengelo News this afternoon.
“The Apostolic Nunciature in Zambia informs that the Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed the Right Reverend Bishop Alick Banda, as Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lusaka,” the statement read.
