Lusaka, 29th January 2018 – We have learnt that NDC leader Dr. Chishimba Kambwili has failed to feature on Prime TV’s ‘Oxygen of Democracy’ Live Program this evening on suspicion that Patriotic Front cadres intended to attack him while at the studio.
While we do not agree with Dr. Kambwili’s style of politics, we leave it to the conscience of the Zambian people to judge. We shall not condone any of our members taking the law into their own hands. Vengeance is not ours at all – Zambians are the judges. In this dispensation, Zambia can and must promote issue -based politics in which political disagreements do not degenerate into the adversarial “I versus You”. We continue to inculcate tolerance and celebrating diversity among our members. We do not need to agree in order to have respect for each other.
The PF does not have any such intentions whatsoever and we advise the NDC leader not to walk in the shadow of fear. The last thing he can do under his “punch for punch” political strategy is not to be scared of his own shadow.
We have civilized ways of responding to Dr. Kambwili as and when need does arise and physical aggression is not among our options.
The PF wishes to place on record once more that it does not support any form of violence against anyone irrespective of how harsh their disagreements against us might be. We cherish the democratic space that exists in the nation and would therefore assure the NDC leader that PF has no such intentions whatsoever to attack him. We ask him to tender any such information to the Police and the Party shall not support any such violent behaviour from its rank and file.
