POLICE say 30 charred bodies of Zambians have been positively identified in the accident that happened on Friday on the Pedicle road in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga confirmed yesterday that the accident involved a Senior Africa Bus Services Scania bus about 20kms into the DRC from the Mokambo border.
“The 30 bodies have been identified from the accident and they have been moved to the Zambian side,” Mrs Katanga said.
She also said that 16 people of the 38 who were admitted to Malcolm Watson and Ronald Ross hospitals in Mufulira have been discharged.
The bus, which was travelling from Kitwe to Mansa, went out of control and hit into an anthill before overturning and catching fire.
