Sixth ‘ritual’ murder victim’s body picked

A 21-year-old man has been killed in a suspected ritual murder in Lusaka’s George compound, the sixth of such murders in the area in a space of three weeks.

The body of Amos SichamRAY HAMOONGAba was discovered yesterday with ears and private parts cut off and the heart ripped out.

And Police who only managed to pick the body at around 09:00hrs after earlier facing resistance from the angry residents say the deceased has been identified by his elder brother Boyd Sichamba.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has assured residents of George and Zingalume Compounds and the public in general that Police are doing everything possible within their means to bring the criminals behind these heinous crimes to book.

Mr. Hamoonga has further appealed to people with any information that may lead to the apprehension and subsequent prosecution of the criminals behind the murders to come forward to the Police, assuring them of Police confidentiality.

But George Compound resident have complained that their movements are now being restricted for fear of falling victim to the criminal behind the murders.
They say it is unacceptable that in space of a few weeks, more than five lives have been lost in similar circumstances.
