RETIRED Zambia Air Force (ZAF) colonel Paul Pandala Banda has appeared in the Lusaka High Court and pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife, Vivian.
Banda is charged with the murder and was committed to the High Court for trial after the Subordinate court received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to prosecute him.
Banda appeared before High Court judge Chalwe Mchenga for plea and the case has been adjourned to April 21 this year for commencement of trial.
It is alleged that Banda, on unknown dates, but between October 27 and October 28 this year, murdered Vivian Banda.
Banda is alleged to have shot his wife dead after a marital dispute.
He is also a lawyer and was allegedly severely beaten by his son after the shooting incident.
Banda was treated at the University Teaching Hospital before his arrest.
