FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) has been sued by a private lodge for over unsettled K623, 850 in players lodging fees during camping periods.

Coolbreeze Lodges Limited of Lusaka has sued Sam Phiri, FAZ secretary general for the organization’s failure to settle the outstanding bills.
According to a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, the lodge has accused Football House of failing to settle the amount in question for some footballers who lived and enjoyed the lodging facilities without paying for the services.

“On or about 1st of January 2015 to 31st of December 2015, the defendant’s football players occupied and enjoyed lodging facilities provided by the plaintiff (Coolbreeze) at its lodge.
“Further on or about 21st March 2016, the plaintiff wrote to demand the said lodging fees from the defendant but there has been no courtesy to respond on part of the defendant to the plaintiffs’ demands,” the statement says

The lodge claims that FAZ had remained irresponsive on how and when the monies would be paid despite several attempts to engage them on how best the issue of accommodation fees for its players would be resolved.
Coolbreeze management has told the High Court that the failure by FAZ to clear its lodging fees has cost them business as they have incurred substantial losses.

It complained that with the above losses, they have been forced to run to the courts to try and compel Football House honour its bills to allow the lodge operate smoothly.
They have appealed for the courts to order FAZ pay the money with interest at current Bank of Zambia rates including incidentals in the legal action.
