CHIEF government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili says Government is developing 16 hydro-power projects countrywide to generate over 4,500 megawatts (MW) to cushion the power deficit that the country is experiencing.
And Government has spent US$87 billion on infrastructure development.
Speaking on Kitwe’s Radio Icengelo on Sunday, Mr Kambwili, who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, said Government is determined to complete all the projects to save the Zambian people from load shedding.
He said the Patriotic Front (PF) government has decided to set up hydro-power stations in Northern, Luapula and North-Western provinces to ensure the country has enough electricity to meet the high local demand and for export.
