Government has ruled out foregoing the holding of the referendum on the Bill of Rights alongside the 11thAugust general election.
Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili says government is ready to facilitate the holding of the referendum runs alongside the elections.
Mr. Kambwili says the excuse of time between now and August some stakeholders are advancing does not pose a challenge as far as government is concerned.
In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Kambwili who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister has explained that this because there is an option of using data from the previous census.
Mr. Kambwili has since advised stakeholders that think it is not feasible to hold a referendum alongside this year’s elections to in future consider engaging government before making opinions on national issues.
