Mrs Lungu told Journalists in Paris, France, yesterday that most of the girl children are victims of unwanted pregnancies resulting from the escalating defilement cases.
She said the other contributing factor was the high levels of poverty that led young girls to becoming vulnerable and getting affected.
Mrs Lungu also called on the private sector to support and help government with the process of looking after teenage children.
”There is need for concerted efforts in coming up with these programmes,” she said.
The First Lady’s statement comes in the wake of her visit yesterday to Villa Deaurer Centre in Palaiseau in Paris, France, which was established to try and address ways of curbing issues pertaining to young girls’ teenage programmes.
