POLICE in Choma has charged 10 suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres with conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
Southern Province commissioner of police Goldwin Phiri said in an interview yesterday that the 10 were among the 21 who were apprehended last week for riotous behaviour.
On January 27, UPND sympathisers engaged police in skirmishes after the opposition party members blocked the Livingstone Road near Choma Police Station and compelled motorists to raise the UPND symbol.
This happened while the cadres waited for the arrival of UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
“The 10 will appear in court on Thursday (today) on charges of conduct likely to cause breach of peace. The 10 were among the 21 arrested last week,” Mr Phiri said.
