President Edgar Lungu has warned Permanent Secretaries and those in the Civil service of termination of contracts arising from two consecutive poor performance reviews.
President Lungu says government wants to transform the civil service into a professional, efficient and effective institution, in accordance with the PF manifesto.
The President said this when he launched the Performance-Based Contract System at Government Complex in Lusaka.
The system seeks to achieve optimum levels of service delivery.
President Lungu says the public has for many years bemoaned poor service delivery by the civil service and will now deserve better and improved services.
The President says the system is already yielding positive results in countries such as United Kingdom, New Zealand, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya and Uganda.
Meanwhile, Secretary to the Cabinet, Rowland Msiska said the system seeks to improve and sustain performance in government business.
Dr. Msiska said all permanent secretaries will be required to sign the Performance-Based Contracts.
