Kabushi constituency aspiring candidate, Bowman Lusambo has lodged a formal complaint with Lusaka Central Police over assertions by veteran politician, Vernon Mwaanga that the 2016 elections maybe rigged.
“Mwaanga recently made unsubstantiated statements alleging that 2016 elections are going to be rigged through several tactics. Such utterances should be taken seriously.
“There is no reason to pre-judge the elections unless one has concrete evidence. With that evidence in hand one can quickly approach the court and present it then the law will act accordingly. We have just reported Mwaanga and we trust the police will handle this matter with due diligence,” said Lusambo addressing journalists at Lusaka Central Police this morning.
Lusambo also said allegations of election rigging were very dangerous as they could cause deadly violence and deepened distrust over the electoral process.
He thus called on Mwaanga to come out in the open and provide evidence of how elections were going to be rigged.
