ZESCO United striker Winston Kalengo last night pocketed K60,000 after being named footballer-of-the-year and bagging two more awards to end 2015 in style.
Kalengo, who was crowned at a colourful MTN/Football Association of Zambia gala at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka, also got the most disciplined player and top scorer awards.
He beat teammate Cletus Chama and Zanaco striker Moses Phiri for the best player award to receive K25,000.
Kalengo scored 24 goals in all competitions – 18 in the league to bag the topscorer award and walk away with K20,000.
He scored twice as Zambia beat Sudan 3-0 on aggregate to qualify for the 2018 Russia World Cup group stage.
Kalengo, 30, overcame teammate Jacob Banda and Red Arrows striker Festus Mbewe for the most discipline player award and received K15,000.
Lusaka Dynamos striker Conlyde Luchanga scooped the young player-of-the-year award beating Napsa Stars defender Boyd Mkandawire and Red Arrows defender Benedict Chepeshi.
Luchanga, who scored nine goals, got K15, 000.
Zesco United trainer George Lwandamina was for the second year running crowned coach-of-the-year beating Nkwazi’s Elijah Chikwanda and Green Buffaloes’ Bilton Musonda.
Lwandamina received K15,000.
Kapiri Mposhi-based FIFA referee Janny Sikwazwe beat Gladys Lengwe and Wisdom Chanda to win the best referee award and received K15,000 while Mercy Banda was voted ahead of Bruno Tembo and Kabwe Chanda for the best assistant referee award.
