Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda has assured civil servants that there will never be a wage freeze as long as the current government remains in power.
Mr Shamenda says Government has acknowledged that a mistake was made when it imposed a wage freeze three years ago.
He says President Edgar Lungu is working at correcting mistakes made in the civil service.
The Minister was speaking at the 9th quadrennial Conference of the Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union in Livingstone.
And Union President Davy Chiyobe called for the re-negotiation of the new conditions of service because of the high inflation rate.
Mr Chiyobe said the current negotiations were based on the 7 per cent inflation rate which has now now rised to 19 per cent.
