UNDER-23 assistant coach Tenant Chilumba says his charges and technical bench is aware of what is at stake at the Senegal 2015 African Championship.
Chilumba declared the team ready, saying the target was to finish in the top three brackets and qualify to the Rio 2016 Olympic games slated for Brazil.
Chilumba, sitting in for Fighton Simukonda, who travelled to Sudan with the senior national team, said he was aware that the task ahead was enormous.
He explained that all the five players who were away with the senior national team had joined training ahead of the Rio Olympics qualifier.
Chilumba said Benson Sakala, Kayawe Kapota, Charles Zulu, Solomon Sakala and Mwila Phiri had joined the team preparing for the tournament to be held late this month.
“Everyone in the team is ready, those that were with the national team are now with us here. We are working on the tactics, as we know what is at stake when we travel to Senegal. Our focus is to go and finish in the top three and possibly win the cup. We want to qualify to the Olympics by all means so we are working hard before we leave. We are very ready, everyone is putting in their very best,” said Chilumba.
The top three teams at the Senegal finals will represent Africa at the 2016 Brazil Olympic Games.
