Calm has returned to the University of Zambia -UNZA- Great East Road campus, after students protest, from Monday night into Tuesday morning.
The students are demanding for an increase in their meal allowances.
Calm has since returned while police officers in riot gear are still keeping vigil at the institution.
A TV 2 news crew that has visited the UNZA Great East Road campus on Tuesday, found the situation calm, and students going about their business.
And UNZA Students Union -UNZASU- Vice President, Hackam Himanga has told TV 2 news that the students want their meal allowances to be adjusted upwards from 22 kwacha to 35 kwacha, per day.
Mr Himanga has explained that this is because the cost of living has increased.
He has however asked the students to remain calm, as dialogue and negotiations are on-going with government and UNZA management.
