POLICE in Lundazi have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly shooting his worker in the mouth over unpaid dues.
Eastern Province commissioner of police Eugene Sibote said in an interview yesterday that Thomas Mtonga, 45, was allegedly shot in the mouth by Zacchaeus Daka on Monday around 08:00 hours.
Mr Sibote said Mr Daka has been charged and arrested for attempted murder.

“Mtonga sustained a gunshot wound on his left cheek and was bleeding from the mouth. The projectile [bullet] is suspected to be stuck on the left lower jaw,” he said.
The incident happened when Mr Mtonga and his colleagues allegedly went to harass Mr Daka over non-payment of his dues.
This prompted Mr Daka to fire in the air using a pistol and in the process wounded Mr Mtonga.
Police have arrested Mr Daka, who is a supervisor at a small-scale mine in Lundazi, for possession of a pistol belonging to his brother-in-law identified as Yotam Banda.
Mr Sibote also said police have detained Mr Banda for allegedly failing to secure his firearm and he is expected to appear in court today along with Daka.
Mr Mtonga is in Lundazi District Hospital.
