Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka is expected to be out of action for at least five weeks due to injury.
Mayuka tore his right hamstring in Metz’s 1-1 away draw against 11th placed Brest in a French Ligue 2 match on October 3.
“José Riga will be without Emmanuel Mayuka’s services for quite a long time, between four and six weeks depending on the progress of his recovery,” Metz official site stated.
The news could rule out Mayuka’s possible selection for Zambia’s 2018 Fifa Cup qualifier doubleheader, against Sudan away on November 9 in Khartoum and at home on November 14 in Ndola.
Mayuka has made an instant impression at the Ligue 2 side since joining them on a permanent transfer from English Premiership side Southampton this season.
The 2012 Africa Cup winning star has scored one goal in five games for the second placed Ligue 2 side.
Mayuka has not played for Zambia since mid this year in Chipolopolo’s 1-0 away win over Ethiopia in a friendly on June 7.
This after coming on in the 65th minute of that match to end a six-month injury layoff following a groin injury he suffered at the 2015 Africa Cup tournament in Equatorial Guinea.
