his is to again officially inform you all that Faustina Sinyangwe is NOT the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) National Women’s Affairs Chairperson as has been erroneously reported in some sections of the media the last two days. Ms Sinyangwe was expelled with 19 others on 31st January 2015 at an MMD National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
Although some of the 20 that were expelled were subsequently readmitted to MMD, no office bearer that was expelled or removed from the NEC has been given a position back on the MMD NEC. We not only sent the resolutions of the January NEC meeting to all media houses, we also sent a follow up statement in February 2015. Both statements are on our website and Facebook pages and can be accessed using the links below.
We are very concerned that minimum journalistic standards are often not followed by media houses, namely to verify published information or to get a reaction to a story about to be published. Our party spokesperson Mr Raphael Nakacinda is always ready to answer any questions and he already explained on ZNBC news that Ms Sinyangwe’s is no longer an MMD member, but we are surprised the story has continued being published without any reference to what Mr Nakacinda said.
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with Mr Nakacinda or send us an email at [email protected].
Thank you,
MMD Media Team
