The Zambia Police has been challenged to explain which provision of the law was used to release the President’s Special Aide for political affairs Kaizer Zulu from lawful custody on a Weekend.
Ruling PF Lusaka Province Youths are suspicious that the Police have flouted the law to release Mr. Zulu who was on Friday arrested, charged and detained for the alleged offense of threatening violence.
PF Lusaka Province Youth Information and Publicity Secretary Stanley Chiumya say his party’s youths are not happy that Mr. Zulu was released yesterday Saturday the 26th of September which is a Weekend.
Mr. Chiumya has told Qfm News in an interview that youths of his party understand that the law does not provide for the release of any suspect from lawful custody on either Saturday or Sunday.
He states that youths of his party do not therefore understand how it was possible for Mr. Zulu to be released on Saturday when the rule of law stipulates that no one is above the law.
Mr. Chiumya notes that in a Democratic Country like Zambia which is governed by the rule of law all people are supposed to be treated equally regardless of their standing in society.
He says his party’s youths are in this case left to suspect an element of alleged corruption in the manner Mr. Zulu has been freed from lawful police custody.
Mr. Chiumya says youths of his party therefore expect that President Edgar Lungu will do something about this matter when he returns from New York.
