Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili has urged miners to reject the 900 Kwacha that Luanshya Copper Mines has resolved to pay them.
Mr. Kambwili says the decision by the mine is illegal adding that the labour movement should quickly move in.
He says Government will not allow the poor workers to be mistreated willfully by the company.
Mr. Kambwili says Zambian laws only provide for such decisions to be made with consultations from the union.
Luanshya Copper Mines is reported to have settled to pay Miners 9 hundred Kwacha after the mine was put on care and maintenance.
And Mines Workers Union of Zambia- MUZ President Chishimba Nkole says his union is aware of the challenge.
He says he is hopeful that the matter will be resolved before pay day.
