Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) President Nevers Mumba has charged that the 2016 National Budget to be unveiled this October will be a campaign budget.
Dr Mumba says the Patriotic Front’s preoccupation right now is the 2016 general election.
He says the people of Zambia are not going to eat elections, but want the many issues affecting them to be addressed between now and 2016.
Dr. Mumba adds that it is therefore important that the 2016 national budget should not be a campaign budget for the PF to use to seek reelection, but should focus on sectors with the potential of moving the country forward.
Dr. Mumba notes that the agriculture sector is one sector that needs to be turned around by the PF government between now and 2016 in order to guarantee food security for the people of Zambia.
He states that it is important that between and now and 2016, the government concentrates on delivering to the people of Zambia and not focusing on the 2016 elections.
Dr. Mumba further states that the people of Zambia are expecting that come 2016, the PF would have delivered on all the promises they made prior to the 2011 elections.
