THE Ministry of Health has embarked on a project of purchasing solar panels and generators in clinics and hospitals countrywide.
The move is aimed at saving patients’ lives and ensuring smooth operations of the health institutions.
Priority had been given to those that lacked the power utensils as well as those with faulty or non operational power gadgets.
Ministry of Health spokesperson Kamoto Mbewe said in an interview that the project was aimed at cushioning the power deficit.
“Yes I can confirm that the Ministry has started purchasing solar panels and generators for clinics and hospitals as a way of not disrupting the smooth running of the health facilities in view of the power deficit,” he said.
Recently a number of clinics had been paralyzed due to power outages with the recent being Kanyama Clinic where patients protested due to nurses and doctors refusing to attend to them.
